On 22th June 2023 the Prototyping & Tech Festival took place in the port of Hamburg. The focus topics this year were decarbonization and circular economy, the potential of mobile sensor technology for the Hanseatic City and Port as well as digital manufacturing methods. We are happy to announce that also Fab City organizations were on site like OpenLab Port and OpenLab Mobile.

The event took place on the premises of the HomePort, where the OpenLab Port can also be found. The OpenLab Port provides access to modern and digital manufacturing techniques. Every Wednesday the OpenLab Day takes place there. The highlight was the visit of Hamburg’s first mayor Peter Tschentscher, who came to the festival to find out about innovations for the port and the Hamburg metropolitan region. He also stopped by OpenLab Mobile and showed great interest in 3D printing technology, the development of which he has been following already for a very long time as a medical professional. In conversation with the workshop instructors and our Lab Manager, we clarified our educational approach and presented our extensive range of workshops, including a live demonstration. As a souvenir, the mayor took home a freshly printed articulated gecko.
