Together with various players in the circular economy, Fab City Hamburg is also looking for innovative solutions for the urban transformation to a circular economy as part of the Circular City Challenge 2023.
WHY
On the question of how we will live in the future, cities have a huge responsibility. By 2050, two out of three people will live in urban areas - today, cities already emit 70% of greenhouse gas emissions and are responsible for 50% of the world’s waste. The transition to a Circular Economy is key to helping cities achieve their climate goals and ensure a sustainable future.
WHO
Circular Berlin, Circular Munich, Materialkreislauf, Circonnact, Circular Black Forest, Fab City Hamburg and Creative Climate Cities have called forth the Circular City Challenge 2023 to drive transformation to a sustainable urban system. The project is supported by the Stuttgart Innovation Fund.
WHAT
As part of the Circular City Challenge, the cities of Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Vienna, Hamburg, Leipzig, and the municipality of Zeuthen, the municipality of Ringsheim and the district of Lippe will go in search of innovative solutions in the field of the circular economy. City representatives will support the innovators in adapting their solutions to local needs.
WHEN
Between 01.08.2023 and 01.10.2023, companies and organizations with innovative solutions in the field of Circular Economy can apply. On 23.11.2023, the shortlist of initiatives will be announced and they will present their concepts to the jury.
