Fabulous St. Pauli wins ITEC Cares Award

A shining moment for Fabulous St. Pauli! The Fab Lab has won the ITEC Cares Award. This award honors the outstanding commitment to the community, especially the Lab's inspiring offers for children and young people over the past years!

The IT Executive Club presented the ITEC Cares Award for outstanding initiatives to promote digital skills as part of the Hamburg IT Strategy Days on Thursday evening, February 22, 2024. This renowned network for CIOs and CDOs in Germany honored initiatives in the field of digital education at the Grand Elysée Hotel Hamburg. In front of an audience of almost 1,000 CIOs and CDOs, prizes with a total value of 25,000 euros were awarded to projects in the main category “Social Commitment”. These initiatives use pro bono or charitable offers to promote digital skills and thus make an active contribution to shaping digitalization.

Fab City Hamburg is delighted that founding member Fabulous St. Pauli was also honored. Niels Boeing and Axel Sylvester, the founders and board members of the lab, accepted the award. [from min. 16:40]

A little later, they announced on their Instagram account

“It has always been clear to us that Fab Labs must be places where people of all ages have creative access to manufacturing technologies. Children and young people in particular can get involved with 3D printers, laser cutters and other tools in a low-threshold way that they were previously unable to do in schools. We will continue to do this in the future.”

A big round of applause is also due to all the other initiatives that were allowed to be on stage, e.g. the RoboLab of the Bücherhallen or protechnicale.
