RE:MAKE is a mobile B2B workshop format for the circular economy, developed specifically for companies in the Hamburg metropolitan region. The focus is on real materials from the company’s own operational environment: for example, paper, cardboard, plastic, wood, metal, or green waste from the company’s premises. As a structured Circular Team Sprint, RE:MAKE transforms existing material streams into a better understanding of material flows, concrete approaches to sustainable business practices, and new ideas for everyday work. Teams gain firsthand experience of how the circular economy can work within their own companies.

Structure and Procedure

Here's how the workshop works

RE:MAKE is designed as a compact, clearly structured edutainment format. Teams receive a theoretical introduction to material flows and the circular economy and then use actual waste materials from their own companies to create everyday objects. Employees develop new perspectives in interdisciplinary groups. The focus is not on perfect results, but on insights that can be applied—ideas that continue to have an impact in day-to-day business operations.

Overview of the Circular Team Sprint

The workshop lasts 3 hours and is designed for groups of 8 to 15 people. RE:MAKE is preferably held in suitable off-site venues with the necessary infrastructure from the Fab City Hamburg network (workshops, labs). This environment offers the ideal setting—with an experiential focus—to take a break from the daily work routine while working in an inspiring atmosphere centered on the circular economy.

Module 1: Introduction and Knowledge-Building Phase

The workshop begins with an introduction to the circular economy, local material flows, and concrete courses of action. Teams learn the basics of the circular economy and understand its relevance for companies, employees, and markets. Working in teams, participants will circular potential within their own operational environment are identified. This phase establishes a shared understanding and a knowledge base upon which the practical work is built.

Module 2: Creative and Upcycling Phase

During the hands-on phase, abstract concepts become tangible through the creative design of new objects made from the company’s scrap materials. This shared hands-on experience changes participants’ perspective on existing resources and opens up new perspectives on material flows and value creation. And at the end, each participant holds their own object in their hands.
