The Future Is Taking Shape Here

Maker Spaces
as Learning Environments

Because theory immediately becomes practical here. Anyone who designs a 3D print understands geometry and planning. Anyone who builds a circuit understands electrical circuits and logic. And anyone who repairs a broken object learns something very forward-thinking along the way: conserving resources, valuing things, and closing loops. It is precisely this combination of digital literacy and sustainable action that makes Maker Education so powerful—including in the context of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

Education for Urban Society

We need
well-educated
Fab Citizens

To turn our vision of Fab City 2054 into reality, we need a well-educated urban community—the Fab Citizens.

With our growing network of maker spaces in the Hamburg metropolitan area, we are creating extracurricular learning and gathering spaces where ideas are born, knowledge is shared, and solutions are tested.

In the spirit of lifelong learning, we combine hands-on learning with the development of future-oriented skills in all areas of education.

Based on the Fab City Manifesto, we put Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into practice: Learners engage with real-world challenges and develop action-oriented solutions. The circular economy is a guiding principle of our programs—from repairing and reusing to circular design and the mindful use of resources and materials.
